GameMaker now free for all non-commercial use

GameMaker

YoYo Games has announced their popular GameMaker engine is now free for all non-commercial use, a huge opportunity for budding indie game developers.

The new and free version of GameMaker (formerly GameMaker Studio 2) is free for all non-commercial use, but only on Windows PC and Mac OS – you can download the engine over on their official site.

Furthermore, to help encourage more up-and-coming game developers, YoYo Games has introduced a one-time license, replacing their previous subscription model.

Numerous popular indie games have been made with GameMaker, including: Hyper Light Drifter, Katana Zero, Hotline Miami, Chicory, Forager, Nuclear Throne, and more.
