17-BIT Games has announced that you can do something pretty awesome in Galak-Z: The Dimensional, their upcoming shooter.
The game will let you go into “mech mode,” where players can transform their ship into a mech, which lets you “get up in an enemy’s face,” according to 17Bit. The mecha mode lets you make use of your sword, an extending arm ability, as well as a direction shield, which lets you deflect and absorb enemy attacks.
While the majority of the game’s coverage so far has been the ship maneuvers and abilities, the mech mode is more focused on being up close, unforgiving, and offensive. There is no limit on how often you can switch between ship and mech form, by the way.
“Unlimited transforming means you can unleash a barrage of missiles to obliterate shields then speed in sword raised for the kill, or perhaps just pluck an unwary foe from the circus of smoke and explosions and beat him to a pulp,” senior producer Raj Joshi said on the PlayStation Blog.
Galak-Z is coming to PlayStation 4 on August 4th, with a PC version coming at a later date.
