Stardock Entertainment has confirmed a release date for Galactic Civilizations III.
The massive, intergalactic strategy game (seriously, read a little bit about it in my interview with Stardock boss Brad Wardell) will be hitting its full release on May 14th, and it will cost $49.99. The game requires a 64-bit Windows installation, as its maps are quite massive.
Players will be able to play as the Terran Alliance, Drengin Empire, Altarian Resistance, or even your own custom-designed faction in a sprawling 4X strategy game focused on trade, diplomacy, and of course – military conflicts with your rival empires. Featured above, you can view a developer stream from the strategy game.
Galactic Civilizations III is the first game in the franchise to add multiplayer functionality, as well as various other features that will give you an insane amount of creation tools. Some of these include an in-game ship designer (the above image is an example of this), as well as very flexible mod-support, so you could totally make your own custom factions, with custom in-game models.
You can find Galactic Civilizations III here on Steam. In case you missed it, we did a preview of the game’s Early Access build.
