Inti Creates has released the first update for Gal Guardians: Servants of the Dark, their dark fantasy metroidvania game sequel.

Gal Guardians: Servants of the Dark has been available since March 2025 across Windows PC (via Steam), Switch, PS4, and PS5. Get our review here! The Xbox versions were delayed temporarily.

Here’s a rundown on the update, plus a new trailer:

Starting in April for four months, new bosses, events, and more will be added in free updates each month.

New Event: “Coliseum”

In this new event, enter the arena and do battle with new bosses, “Baphomet” and “Hell Infernoctavius.”

“Baphomet” is a high-level demon with immense magic power!

“Hell Infernoctavius”is an immortal swordsman with a burning grudge!

New Playability Features

The following features have been added to ensure a smooth gameplay experience:

Enhanced tea table in Maxim Castle

You can now teleport to the most recent tea table used.

With this feature, you can more easily resume your journey after visiting Maxim Castle.

Counter of “Maxim’s Bones” remaining added to area map

This feature will come in handy when trying to collect all of Maxim’s Bones.

Item Lock feature added to inventory

Lock items you don’t want to discard to prevent any unfortunate mistakes.

New icon for upgraded sub-weapons, making them easy to distinguish

Check at a glance which sub-weapons you’ve already upgraded.
