Future Nippon Ichi Software Games are Coming Only to PS4 and PS Vita

disgaea 5 03-23-15-1

The president of Nippon Ichi Software has said a few very curious things about the company’s upcoming games, and which platforms they’re coming to. We also got a teaser for a new unannounced game, which is reportedly coming to Playstation 4.

When speaking with 4Gamer.net (via Games Talk), Nippon Ichi Software president Sohei Niikawa said that development for console games has shifted entirely to Playstation 4, the only Playstation 3 games they’ll work on now are ones they are localizing:

“We’re doing this because no one else is really making that focus to Playstation 4, so we think it’s a valuable effort for us,” Niikawa said. “Because of this, we’ve gotten support from Sony, and we can now do things like commercials. On a promotional level, the merits of this are great for sales promotion.”

“If we just consistently put out games only on older hardware, we’ll get shown up rather fast from a technical standpoint. We’re a small company,” said Niikawa. “If we focus on multiple platforms, we’d have no choice but to keep putting out games for older consoles, and that’s not a progressive model, we need to be always challenged.”

“There are a lot of developers that are taking a ‘wait and see’ type approach to new generation home consoles, but from a consumer standpoint there aren’t many games coming out,” said Niikawa. “This makes things more difficult, but we’re very enthusiastic about making this change at the company.”

Disgaea 5: Alliance of Vengeance is heading west some time this fall.

It’s good that they are moving away from the PS3, hopefully others follow suite. I really do wish they would give PC another chance though

I’m actually quite happy they just came out and said “Yo, if you like our games now might be the time to make the switch since we ain’t support previous gen no more.”.

Most companies are quite glad to wallow in secrecy and let us stumble in the dark trying to figure out the platforms they’re going to release stuff on.

No one else is really making that focus to Playstation 4

    Idea Factory doesn’t exist?
But seriously, good to see more companies moving on.

Maybe the mother parent to NISA doesn’t know or unwilling to know that NISA butcheded they game CG.

NISA are only the publisher & not a dev like people make them to be.

Localising may mean more ecchi games but on the other hand it maynot after the farce CG cause.

You’re presenting conflicting thought processes here. You’re insisting that the developing branches of the company are unaware of the publishing branches’ actions and aware of them.
You are also assuming that there are no legal matters involved in the decisions to censor the content. The simple matter is there are and, at the very least in the case of the US, those issues are essentially asking the companies to play a game of russian roulette by leaving the content in. Except the media that already hates them is in the position to go ahead and slip a couple more bullets in.
No company wants to do more work than necessary. No company wants to undo their own work. They’ll only do so if it will keep them safe. If you want to lash out, lash out at the sites that thrive on controversy, lash out at the people who make such easily abused laws, don’t lash out at the people stuck playing the sadistic game made by the last two groups.

The bottom line here is ““Because of this, we’ve gotten support from Sony, and we can now do
things like commercials. On a promotional level, the merits of this are
    great for sales promotion.””

Usually Microsoft and Sony secure deals with publishers, exclusivity or at least timed exclusivity in exchange for free promotion and exposure, but interestingly enough this time around the deal seems to be for PS4 exclusivity, at the cost of a PS3 version.

Which makes sense from sony’s point of view since their focus now is not selling more PS3 games, it’s selling PS4 systems.

If the deal is for temporary exclusivity though, it’s about time NIS starts porting their games to the PC as well, PS4 to PC porting should smooth that process.
The only problem is, who would do it for them?
They’d need to outsource that since they do not have the internal teams for that or a western branch capable of pulling it off.

This is one thing where IF beat them with IFI and their sudden strong support for the PC. New Neptunia games and Fairy Fencer coming next and even rumors of Omega Quintet.

    Nisa is trash.
Terrible policies, terrible lies, and terrible skill at their job.
They manage to butcher the game’s playability with bugs, the game’s translations with nonsense, the game’s content with censorship , the game’s sales as a result and the game’s reputation with their excuses all the time.
That really deserves them an award.

Makes sense to me. The last NIS game I’ve seen on another platform that wasn’t Sony’s was Disgaea on the DS.

Hopefully we’ll get more dungeon crawlers that aren’t butchered in the localization. Can’t get enough of them on the handheld.

Compile Heart is a development studio within’ Idea Factory Japan.

Criminal Girls is developed by imageepoch for Nippon Ichi Japan and most likely only really care about the Japanese release. I wouldn’t be surprised at all if Nippon Ichi Japan ordered the censorship for the west.

  22. Alistair
    March 23, 2015 at 6:21 pm

But NISA didn’t made criminal girls NIPPON ICCHI Did, NISA Order Nippon ICCHI to make changes & not the other way round.

I wonder if NISE still around would also force NIPPON to make changes.

  23. Alistair
    March 23, 2015 at 6:27 pm

Opps see response to landale NISA Order changes not the other way round, by alleged point of some rating boards are a fickle lot.

I know the fact it was not PEGI at fault as they didn’t know the game was censored before they received the game for rating.

  24. Landale
    March 23, 2015 at 6:30 pm

You’re still making assumptions and focusing on quite the wrong thing.

  25. Alistair
    March 23, 2015 at 6:42 pm

I said did they know or didn’t know, if they know would they be quite happy about the edits. Nippon ICCHI is NISA parent company NISA does not own Nippon ICCHI.

That is the fact I think it quite funny that other Dev & publishers like xseed didn’t heavy handed made cuts for Senran series that got more qustionable content you are actually poking a girls Breast in the dressing room. But not 1 rating boards find that offensive but took CG.

It not assumptions, do we have to belive the dev or publishers of what they say at face value.

mavelousEU made that mistake by saying the EU version is the same as NA version of senren Shinovi.

  26. Alistair
    March 23, 2015 at 6:52 pm

I want to go back months back with my email from PEGI about monpiece before the game was ever mention it was going to be self censored.

Where the art more shocking then CG & senran. In the end the game was right I did send THAT PHOTO to PEGI regarding the uncensored cards.

They respone was no it would not be censored as PEGI don’t censored games & those cards would have passed uncut however what age rating it would get it depands on what meaning it could get a PEGI-16 or still a PEGI-12 & you can get full blow nudity in a 12 rating game.

  28. Alistair
    March 23, 2015 at 7:23 pm

I think what i say or what I put is not a issue here.

If you bother to read NISA Forums they’ve did say “we” NISA made edits & told us what were the edits Done to CG.

& if you bother to read other articles on this web site, you are the minority against anti-censorship more like pro-censorship to me.

Another trick that SJWs & trolls like to play apart from doxxing is be a grammar police.

SJWs favourite past-time to shout down & belittle people that hasn’t got the same mind-set as them.

  29. Landale
    March 23, 2015 at 7:34 pm

Ok. Good to know you can’t answer a simple question and choose to continue making assumptions. This time about me.

Reread what I’ve posted, tell me where I’m even remotely pro-censorship. If you can’t do that, we’re done here.

  30. Alistair
    March 23, 2015 at 7:52 pm

Yes I am done here, you brought up that I was making assumptions first.

Legal matters is like saying yes I can see why it needs to be censored, or if you don’t mind censorship thrust upon you yes that is pro-censorship.

If I say I don’t care about censorship I bet I be called a SJW.

The assumption is with NISA saying some rating borads had issue with the game.

& lastly does it matter if I’m English or are you saying my spelling is off sometimes. I have no fault reading others, apart from some typo’s I read at least I don’t belittle others.

& speaking of doxxing I been doxxed.

Anyways I’m sad that Nippon decided to drop PS3 for ps4 & vita.

As now the PS3 is a dead console like the PSP-Go.

If other Devs follow the same route you can say good-bye PS3.
