Hulu has shared the first full trailer for their new season of Futurama, the beloved sci-fi comedy show from creators Matt Groening and David X. Cohen.
The new trailer gives us a deeper look at the various tropes and themes the new season will tackle – or in some cases lampoon – like surviving a pandemic and roaming the lawless Crypto Country.
Returning fans will also finally, seemingly, get answers to long-questioned things in the series like what’s in Nibbler’s litter box? Will Fry and Leela ever finally have a long-lasting romance? Also how did evil Robot Santa come about?
Here’s a brief blurb on the new season, plus the first full trailer:
“After a brief 10-year hiatus, Futurama has crawled triumphantly from the cryogenic tube, its full original cast and satirical spirit intact. The 10 all-new episodes of season 11 have something for everyone. New viewers will be able to pick up the series from here, while long-time fans will recognize payoffs to decades-long mysteries — including developments in the epic love story of Fry and Leela, the mysterious contents of Nibbler’s litter box, the secret history of evil Robot Santa, and the whereabouts of Kif and Amy’s tadpoles. Meanwhile there’s a whole new pandemic in town as the crew explores the future of vaccines, bitcoin, cancel culture and streaming TV.”
The new revival of the beloved sci-fi series is set to premiere exclusively on Hulu on July 24th. The 20 new episodes make up the show’s official eighth season, and new episodes will drop every Monday after.
