Funimation have gotten a hold of the licensing rights for the live-action Attack on Titan films, for both a theatrical and home-video release in America.
Under the terms of their licensing deal, they’ll be able to broadcast the films a theatrical release, as well as distribution via home video, video-on-demand, and various broadcasting avenues.
“Funimation is honored to host the world premiere of Attack on Titan here in the United States with Toho,” said Gen Fukunaga, CEO and President of Funimation Entertainment. “Attack on Titan is truly a worldwide phenomenon and we are excited to bring the live action movie to theaters across the Americas later this fall.”
The world premier of the first movie is set for July 14th. While the movie will be aired at the Egyptian Theater in Los Angeles, it will be with Japanese audio and English subtitles. Some of the cast, however, will be in attendance.
Prior to this, director Shinji Higuchi is going to be at this year’s San Diego Comic-Con for an autograph session the previous Sunday, July 12th, at 1:00 pm PST (in the Funimation booth, #4135).
