Fumito Ueda Working on Next Game, Scale is Similar to Previous Titles

The latest Famitsu (via Ryokutya2089) has new updates for Ico, Shadow of the Colossus, and The Last Guardian creator Fumito Ueda’s next game.

Ueda is working on the new game under his genDesign studio, with development already underway. They’re still in the prototyping phase to see how interesting their ideas will be, but they’re able to experiment thanks to support from the Kowloon Nights game development fund.

The creator noted they’re working on the main bits of the game first, and then they’ll focus on making it a solid product. He also noted their new game isn’t like an indie game, furthermore its scale is something that rivals his previous games like Ico, Shadow of the Colossus, and The Last Guardian (pictured).

He re-iterated this is a completely new game, and is not a sequel to previous titles. Despite the scale rivaling his previous games, Ueda noted that if large-scale development becomes more viable for them, they’ll significantly expand their development tools and systems with a larger team, so they can make it a bigger game.
