Fumito Ueda officially reveals new game gen ATLAS

gen ATLAS

Fans of Ico, Shadow of the Colossus, and The Last Guardian finally have a name to attach to Fumito Ueda’s next project.

During Summer Game Fest 2026, genDESIGN officially announced gen ATLAS alongside a brand-new trailer.

Previously known as Project Robot, gen ATLAS is a single-player action-adventure set on a mysterious abandoned world. Players awaken with no memory of how they arrived and must explore landscapes filled with colossal structures, forgotten technology, and the remains of a long-lost civilization.

The trailer immediately feels like a Fumito Ueda game. Massive environments make you look small, silence plays a major role in the atmosphere, and a gigantic robot appears to be central to both exploration and the story itself.

While Ueda’s previous games were PlayStation exclusives, gen ATLAS will launch on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC through Epic Games Publishing. However, there is still no release window attached to the game.
