A special prelude episode of the series Fruits Basket will premiere in Japanese theaters on February 18th.
Fruits Basket began in 1998 by creator Natsuki Takaya. The series follows young girl Tohru Honda, who ends up living with classmates after the death of her parents.
These classmates are attractive young men possessed by spirits of the Chinese Zodiac. This possession causes them to transform into animals under duress.
You can find the run-down (via Crunchyroll) below:
Tohru Honda thought her life was headed for misfortune when a family tragedy left her living in a tent. When her small home is discovered by the mysterious Soma clan, she suddenly finds herself living with Yuki, Kyo, and Shigure Soma. But she quickly learns their family has a bizarre secret of their own: when hugged by the opposite sex, they turn into the animals of the Zodiac!
The new special prelude episode will explain the meeting of Tohru’s parents; Kyoko and Katsuya Honda. A story that’s only ever been told in the manga of the series until now. The Japanese voice cast will also return, including Miyuki Sawashiro (Kyoko), and Yoshimasa Hosoya (Katsuya).
