FromSoftware lead composer Yuka Kitamura has announced her departure from the company, seeking to pursue freelance work.

Yuka Kitamura has worked under FromSoftware for 12 years, and has left her touch on many of the company’s soundtracks.

Kitamura is best known for her work on Dark Souls 3, Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice, Bloodborne, and Elden Ring.

“Thank you all for your continued support,” Kitamura said. “Today I have an announcement to make. I have decided to leave FromSoftware, the company I worked for, and to start working new as a freelance composer in this August.”

She added, “I would like to continue to express myself in game music through various genres of music. I hope you will look forward to my music in the future! I have created a new website.”

Kitamura has also launched a website, which collects some of her original work hosted on her Soundcloud account.
