From Yarn to Clay in Kirby’s Rainbow Curse

Kirby seems to be Nintendo’s go to character to experiment with stylish graphical styles. Kirby’s Epic Yarn turned heads when it released on the Wii and now that graphical style is seeing use again in the upcoming Yoshi’s Wooly World.  Well, it’s time for Kirby to move on and this time it’s from yarn, to clay.

In the trailer above you can see the use of clay is consistent through the entire experience and you can even see small details such as finger smudges on the background from the hands that molded the clay.  The whole dynamic looks really stunning in HD.

Also, as you are watching the trailer I’m sure you can see that this game looks very similar to Kirby’s Canvas Curse which released on the DS way back in 2005.  It is using the same play style of drawing platforms on the touch screen for Kirby to roll around on to get around the level.

Expect Kirby’s Rainbow Curse sometime later this year.  Now we just have to wait for Yoshi’s Ceramic World.
