When Marvelous revealed Daemon X Machina at this year’s E3, many fans of mecha thought it was the next Armored Core game – and they had a good reason to be mistaken. The game’s core staff all worked on Armored Core, which hasn’t seen a game since 2012’s Armored Core: Verdict Day. Now, we’ve learned a new game in the series is possibly in development.
The news comes from Armored Core developer From Software’s company president Hidetaka Miyazaki, who in an interview with Famitsu (also via Games Jouhou) subtly teased a new game in the beloved mecha-action franchise is in development.
“In an earlier interview I mentioned three projects moving forward in our core development schedule, but Deracine is not one of those projects,” Miyazaki said in the interview focused on the recently announced VR title. “I just wanted to let some of our fans know that.”
When pressed further by Famitsu, the interviewer asked if Miyazaki is addressing some fans “whose bodies are seeking struggle” (an ongoing Japanese meme where all things lead to the making of a new Armored Core game), the From Software boss didn’t deny the connection.
Deracine is being developed for PlayStation 4 and PlayStation VR. Daemon X Machina is launching for Switch sometime in 2019.
