Freedom Wars is a hotly anticipated game for the Playstation Vita, some may even say that it could be the killer app the system has been yearning for.

While the game still isn’t out yet in the west, we’ve already learned of the game’s first big patch via Famitsu. The most notable of the additions with the patch is online co-op play, and though a release date was not confirmed.

You can find the revealed details below:

  • Internet co-op play – The game already supports ad-hoc multiplayer, but this patch adds in online multiplayer via wi-fi. Wi-fi multiplayer supports both text and voice chat as well.
  • Multiplayer invasion missions added – You can fight other Panopticons in competitive multiplayer. If your team wins, you will loser the opposing Panopticon’s ranking/value (GDPP).
  • Players will no longer be required to complete a mission in Story Mode once before hopping online. If you choose to do so, you’ll be able to go online from the get-go after this patch launches.
  • Personal leaderboards have been added alongside the existing ones that have been in place for the City-State War Node. If you attain an exemplary rank, you can get special rewards.

Freedom Wars still hasn’t gotten a release date for North America and Europe, but we’ll keep you guys posted.
