If you’re strictly a console gamer and have been on the fence about giving Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn a chance, Square Enix has confirmed that a free trial version of the game is coming to consoles.
Speaking in an interview over on the PlayStation Blog, Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn director Naoki Yoshida confirmed the upcoming trial version:
“Very soon, we’re going to be starting a free trial for both PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4 players. You just need to download and install the client, and you can play for 14 days up to level 20. Hopefully, this will bring in a lot of people who haven’t played but have been thinking about playing. It will give them a chance to feel the game and experience Final Fantasy XIV and the world of Eorzea.”
A free trial is already available on PC, where you can play up to level 20 while exploring the realm of Eorzea for two weeks—all free of charge.
The interview is somewhat meaty and has Yoshida-san talking about all of the content that is being primed for version 3.0, the Heavensward expansion.
