Former Nintendo of America boss Reggie Fils-Aime has recently talked up (via THR) the future of gaming, and how he views streaming technology when it comes to streaming games.
“As the technology evolves to be cloud, and as download speeds increase, what it means is you’re going to be able to play any game on any device at any time,” Reggie said. “It will happen over the next decade and be something that’s really meaningful for players.”
It’s worth pointing out Google’s Stadia platform, which they’ve heavily invested in both with technology and advertisements during this year’s Game Awards, has had a number of problems since its release last month.
Many critics of game streaming technology have noted anyone living outside Google’s fiber optic network, which is mostly only in the San Francisco bay area, simply cannot reliably play games on the service. This is due to a number of factors, like poor internet infrastructure in rural areas, latency over long distances, and more.
