Following the news that Microsoft is acquiring Zenimax Media and Bethesda Softworks this morning, many fans were left wondering if all future Bethesda or Zenimax titles would become Windows PC and Xbox exclusive. That’s apparently not the case, but only with select titles like Ghostwire: Tokyo and Deathloop.

Both Ghostwire: Tokyo and Deathloop will remain timed-exclusive releases on PlayStation 5 (via Bloomberg), with future exclusive releases being evaluated individually, says Xbox boss Phil Spencer. Bethesda previously committed to releasing Ghostwire: Tokyo and Deathloop both as timed-exclusive releases on PS5.

Future games from Bethesda, like Starfield and The Elder Scrolls VI, will be available on Microsoft’s popular Game Pass subscription platform, but may or may not be Xbox exclusive. “We’ll take other consoles on a case-by-case basis,” Spencer said.

Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella also chimed in as to whether or not Microsoft-owned games would release on “other platforms” in the future.

“When we think about strategy whether it’s in gaming or any other part of Microsoft, each layer has to stand on its own for what it brings,” Nadella said. “When we talk about our content we want our content to be broadly available.”
