Flying Hamster II: Knight of the Golden Seed is Quite a Different Sequel

Game Atelier have put out some fun, bit-sized games on PlayStation Vita, like Sunflowers and The Flying Hamster, and now they’ve revealed they’re working on a sequel to The Flying Hamster, although it’s probably not what you’d expect. The original game was downloaded over 1.7 million times, and while many fans asked for a sequel, they also mentioned how much it reminded them of Wonder Boy/Monster World, and how much they wish they could get a new game from that series.

Flying Hamster II: Knight of the Golden Seed Drops is their answer to fans of both games. The Kickstarter-funded sequel is quite the departure from the original game, which featured simple side-scrolling shooter elements. The game instead adopts an action RPG style with platforming elements, borrowing lots of parts from other classic games within the genre, like Zelda, Secret of Mana, and the aforementioned Wonder Boy/Monster World games.

The game itself will run in full 1080p, and will see Newton the hamster in his typical escapades.

If you want to back The Flying Hamster II, head on over to their Kickstarter page.
