FLCL Returns After Toonami Announces Three New Anime Series

FLCL

Adult Swim has announced three new anime series during the 25th anniversary of Toonami two of these series are new seasons of FLCL called FLCL: Grunge and FLCL: Shoegaze. The third series is an original horror anime called Housing Complex C.

FLCL began as a short OVA series in 2000 and was only six episodes long. The series was created by Gainax with a story written by Yoji Enokido who has also worked on titles such as Neon Genesis Evangelion and Ouran High School Host Club.

The series achieved a sizeable following in the United States when the OVA was brought to Adult Swim in 2003, as well as introducing overseas audiences to The Pillows, a Japanese rock band whose music was present throughout the entire series, including the ending theme Ride on Shooting Star.

Adult Swim and Toonami brought FLCL back with two seasons back in 2018 and it seems they think it’s still popular enough to continue.
