Five Nights at Freddy’s Creator Possibly Trolling Fans by Cancelling Next Game

The creator of Five Nights at Freddy’s is possibly trolling his fanbase again with the news he’s cancelling the latest game in the franchise.

In a new update posted to the game’s official blog, series creator Scott Cawthon said that the game’s tentative six game isn’t happening.

“After forcing myself to keep working on it day after day, I realized something- I just don’t want to work on this,” Cawthon said in the update. He continued by outlining the expectations the series’ growing fanbase has for each new iteration:

“With each game’s release, I think the expectations get higher and higher for the next, and rightfully so. Each game SHOULD be better than the last! But that pressure starts to mount, and I fear that I’ve been neglecting other things in my life for the sake of trying to keep up with those mounting expectations.”

After the initial announcement, fans began wildly speculating that Cawthon was screwing with them (as this sort of thing is part of the series charm). The creator then posted a small update where he said “no, it’s not a troll (Would I ever troll you guys?)” and “yes, I need a break.” This simply egged fans on to speculate more, noting that he has trolled them in the past.

What do you guys think about the franchise, and Cawthon possibly getting burned out over the series and maybe even its demanding fanbase? Sound off in the comments below!
