Square Enix has revealed the latest gameplay and some new information for Final Fantasy XV during their Tokyo Game Show 2015 Active Time Report.
The game will let players rent out chocobos for up to 30 days. You can hit the jump button while riding a chocobo, and while jumping if you press jump again you can attempt to fly in the air, but only for a little while. When you dismount your chocobo, it will follow you for a short period of time. Unfortunately, you cannot raise or breed chocobos.
Fishing can be performed in a wide variety of aquatic locations, of varying sizes. You can select different rods, as well as bring your catches back to back to cook up into a meal.
You can find a breakdown of the rest of the new information below:
The Niflheim Empire has managed to conquer the world – save for the Kingdom of Lucis. This small kingdom has managed to remain independent by defying the empire, by utilizing the crystal’s power.
King Regis is the current guardian of the crystal, and just like Noctis, he can also summon weapons from thin air. He fought alongside General Cor and Cid in his younger years.
However, due to his using the crystal to form a magical shield around the kingdom, he is rapidly aging.
Noctis’ mother, Regis’ queen, died when Noctis was still a child.
Lunafreya is a beloved “oracle,” a person with the capability of communing with the gods. She’s also the youngest oracle in history. She holds a mysterious spear – its uses are currently unknown.
Luna dwells in Tenebrae, a semi-autonomous city that is still under Niflheim control. Her city is granted some independence due to her position as an oracle. Luna is strong-willed, even when completely surrounded by Niflheim soldiers.
Luna and Noctis promised each other something when they were children. Square Enix hasn’t revealed what this is, but we’re told it is pertinent to the game’s core story.
A new character named Gentiana was revealed, standing behind Luna. The black haired woman plays a core role to the story.
Final Fantasy XV is launching for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One worldwide in 2016.
