First Two Episodes of Pokemon Generations Are Live

With the release of Pokémon Sun and Moon right on the horizon, The Pokemon Company has really been putting their best foot forward with the series.

The new short-form anime Pokémon Generations has it’s first two episodes live on YouTube, through The Official Pokémon Channel. The two episodes are a real heavy blast of nostalgia – but rather than taking my word for it, take a watch below.

The series will be adding a new episode, ranging in length from 3 to 5 minutes, every week from now until December 23rd. The series sounds like it will be jumping around a lot, featuring bits and pieces from all of the games, as mentioned in the video details:

From Viridian Forest to Terminus Cave, see the Pokémon world as never before!

Pokémon Generations revisits each generation of the Pokémon video game series to shed new light on some timeless moments. From the earliest days in the Kanto region to the splendor of the Kalos region, go behind the scenes and witness Pokémon history with new eyes!

Whether or not the series is being used to promote the November 18th  / 23rd release dates from the Sun and Moon games, Generations is definitely a fun nostalgia trip.

Thought this was really fun. I’m glad to see them branching out with anime specials besides the main anime. I hope they still make an anime short for Sun and Moon like they ones they did for Black/White 2 and Omaega Ruby/Alpha Sapphire

After pokemon origins I feel as though it’s time to shelve the ash and friends series.

    If only.
They could also do so much better with the combat as proven by generations as well.

The Adventure episode was only alright. It felt more like a teaser a new series than anything else. The Chase was really cool. Makes me wish they’d make a series based on Looker. Law & Order: Pokemon Crimes Unit could be awesome.

It’s a bit weird that the trainer does literally nothing, and it is only Pokemon that interact. They could really do with evolving the gameplay to include the trainer as a factor in battles and such rather than just stand there looking like a complete tool at times.

Like why not allow the Trainer have particular stats to level up which could improve their affinity with certain types of pokemon making them more effective than normal, like your trainer could gain experience which you could improve their stats to work better with say flying types which could improve their resistances to their counters while boosting their main type attack.

They could also do with improving the finding and catch pokemon mechanics too. Like they started experimenting with that in Gold and Silver but seem to have gone no where with it.

They could do so much with this franchise yet they barely do anything outside of new sprites and very rarely add a new type.

Pikachu’s still the same almost everywhere else.

With all the heavy teasing of Giovanni, do you think they’re gonna play the nostalgia card in Sun & Moon and have him turn up?
Crooks fleeing to tropical islands to lay low is a trope right?

Also, that Poke-Swat is gonna give plenty of OC next time Nintendo slam a fan game.

That’s basically what the badges are supposed to do though. They act as a sort of trainer-rank system, and they do actually slightly boost stats.

A type affinity would be interesting, but I don’t think messing with weaknesses and resistances is a good idea, its too easy to make broken. An experience boost like traded Pokemon get would be nice though, maybe make catching and breeding for that type easier.

OR/AS introduced the DexnNav, which brought the sneaking system with it. What exactly do yo have in mind there?

The Sun and Moon anime seems to have a “looser” artstyle. Partly because Hawaii and partly to appeal more to kids I guess.

The main reason Generations seems to exist is to appeal to oldfags while Sun and Moon tries to gather an audience among children. Though, they should have replaced Ash entirely if that really is the case.

through its many games and years and sales pokemon is probably the franchise that has seen the least improvements out there

tho we can look at the bright side, at last it hasn’t actually gotten worse
I still feel bad anytime I look back at mario 64 and then look at the most recent 3D marios, or when I tried to play zelda the handholding sword

It’s 2016, why is a big company like Nintendo still uploading videos in 360p?

That was okay, If the episodes are only going to be 4 minutes long you’d expect them to look better though. For some awful reason the max quality is 360p. Also why did they give that pikachu some weird oval face?

    This guy!
By the time he get his water pokemon out to cool down the molten mess left behind, the rest of his crew is already on their way back OUT of the building and telling him Giovanni isn’t there.

Otherwise this guy’s getting demoted or reassigned to office work.

Well I’m thinking of a way to make single type teams viable, so say you want a team of flying types your stats that you’d improve to boost flying types would allow them to not get 1 hit ko’d by their weakness, and/ or increase the stats gained of that type as you level them, and or allow you to catch rarer pokemon of that type a lot easier.

A boost to EV gain and chance to evade or survive a fatal hit would work. Basically, the same sort of effects Pokemon Amie had is what you’d probably want.

I agree, it would be great to see a series like Pokemon Generation, where Pokemon are more natural and actually acts like an animal. Pokemon are not selfaware creatures like Digimon.
