If you were a platform game fan back in the 1990s, you no doubt remember playing Bubsy. Though Michael Berlyn’s cat-centric answer to Mario/Crash/Sonic didn’t attain the same level of popularity as its competitors (A failed TV pilot and a spot in “most hated characters of the 90s might back that up), it still has a fanbase. Even if most of them came by way of a certain youtuber’s extreme obsession with the game.
If you count yourself as one of the above, then you’ll be happy to know the first two of Bubsy’s four games, Claws encounters of the furred kind and Bubsy 2 are being placed together in one package for release on Steam today.
Brought to us by way of retroism, the games are untouched and still firmly within that pixelated 90s aesthetic. The one thing that does stick out, even after all these years, is his voice, which was done by Rob Paulsen. 90s kids will no doubt enjoy that.
