The first trailer for the upcoming Mewtwo Strikes Back Evolution movie has been released.

The trailer broadcasted on Japanese children’s program Oha Suta on Thursday. The movie will release in Japan on July 12th, and that it is being directed by Kunihiko Yuyama, Motonori Sakakibara, with the screenplay by Takeshi Shudo.

From this new trailer, we now know the movie will follow the plot somewhat closely to Pokemon: The First Movie. We see Ash, Brock, Misty, and the Pokemon that originally appeared during that film. Some scenes and scenery even seem to mimic scenes from the original film.

In case you missed it, the latest generation of mainline Pokemon games were recently confirmed- Pokemon Sword and Pokemon Shield.
