Games Farm and Kalypso Digital have released the first major DLC pack for their action RPG Shadows: Awakening.

The Chromaton Chronicles has you exploring the Arcanum Laboratory, an abandoned facility where Tholean mages once conducted cruel and unorthodox experiments. This new story content will grant you access to the Chromaton Golem, a hulking new ally based on the mages’ research. You can check out the trailer above.

This DLC coincides with a Halloween event and a big update to the base game that focuses on quality of life changes. These include skill resets, drag and drop controls in the party screen, key rebinding, and more. You can read the full notes here.

Here’s a rundown of the new DLC:

Shadows: Awakening – The Chromaton Chronicles leads you to the northern edge of Thole. There lies the mysterious Arcanum Laboratory – a long since abandoned place known for its ruthless and immoral magical experiments. One of those experiments conducted by the Tholean mages involved the baneful energy named Chromaton. It is believed that it has the power to bring inanimate metal to life, but the mages failed to consider the dangers in bringing the unrefined essence into contact with their own living flesh. Perhaps they succeeded, perhaps they failed miserably. The outcome has never been chronicled…until now.

• The Tholean Arcanum – Enter the Arcanum Laboratory, a new place that’s challenging you to solve puzzles, complete quests and gather intel about the remnants of the contested experiments executed in the latter days of Thole. The Chromaton Chronicles DLC is $4.99 and currently has a 15% launch discount. Shadows: Awakening is available on Windows PC via Steam, GOG, and the Humble Store for $39.99, and the Steam version is 25% off as part of the Halloween Sale. Versions for PS4 and Xbox One release next month.
