First Major Blaster Master Zero Update Adds Destroyer Mode and EX Character Mode

Inti Creates have released the first major update for Blaster Master Zero.

The new 1.2 update brings with it a new “Destroyer Mode,” as well as a new EX Character Mode. Featured above, you can view a new trailer for the update.

The new “Destroyer Mode” is basically a hard mode that is available once you clear the game. Various mechanics are tweaked in this mode to make the game more challenging, like having the strongest weapon do no damage to certain enemies (you’ll have to use the appropriate weapon to counter them), rendering Life Up items useless, and so on.

The new EX Character Mode will let you play through the entire game as various guest characters, with the first two including: Gunvolt from Azure Striker Gunvolt and Ekoro from Gal Gun. The former will be available free till May 17, while the latter will be free until June 14th, after which both will become $1.99 / €1.99.

Finally, a playable demo for the game was also released, which includes two playable stages (Area 1 and Area 3). In case you missed it, you can find our thorough written and video review for Blaster Master Zero here (we highly recommend it!).
