First Look at Dragon’s Dogma: Dark Arisen on PC, in Glorious 60FPS

Capcom UK recently uploaded a “5 beginner’s tips” for the PC version of Dragon’s Dogma: Dark Arisen.

What’s important to take from this is that all of the footage is recorded at 60FPS, with no noticeable hitches in framerate.

Coming from this, it’s worth mentioning the original game often times had troubles maintaining its 30fps (Editor’s Note: we covered this in our previous report).

Dragon’s Dogma: Dark Arisen is set to launch PC sometime in January 2016.

Oh I can’t wait. The game always looked fun but now that it’s coming to PC I can finally play it at 1080p/60fps. :)

Really interested in this game since I discovered it was going to be ported to PC. And delicious 60fps, what more can I ask for?

I’m definitely getting it, I enjoyed several playthroughs on PS3 despite the less than optimal performance so this’ll be a treat.

It’s good. It has it’s flaws sure, but they did a lot of things right with it. I really hope they’ll make a real sequel someday and not just that online thing they’re doing. Hopefully good PC sales might give them a push in that direction.

Fair warning: if I see your waifu pawn and it has Guardian as one of its main inclinations…

I’m going to throw that bitch off a cliff.

Dragon’s Dogma, now with 3 times the framerate!

They’re still playing at Console graphics settings. It looks exactly the same still. I’m sure that will change, but why would you hold back on something like that?

What was the one where they did nothing but pick up random shit while you were in the middle of a fight getting killed? I really didn’t care for that system, I wish they’d just have proper AI behavior, suited to their job of course.

It certainly has a lot of flaws, but they tend to be things I find very easy to forgive because I’m a sucker for customization, action-oriented combat and good animation and Dragon’s Dogma is exceptionally good at all that.

It was the first game in a new IP too, I can easily see them building off of it to make a great sequel. I’m less forgiving of some things when they just keep repeating the same mistakes sequel after sequel.

And didn’t you love how powerful the spells felt? I felt like they had a real impact to them, especially the ice spells. It had the feeling of real effects taking place and not just magical sparkles shot out of your wand.

I don’t mind the graphics, the one thing that really annoyed me about the console version was the framerate and it’s been fixed.

Also it’s likely that the textures will be moddable, in that case mods will eventually make the game look a lot better.

Oh man those spells, who can forget the first time they summoned a goddamn tornado?

Also no black borders (begone cinematic mode)!

My favorite was Bolide (the meteor one). It even had a physical damage component to it, as I would rely on it to take out golems who were otherwise immune. Gigce did as well.

I thought that was very cool that they weren’t strictly magical damage, which would make sense if you were throwing flaming boulders at something.

Oh I forgot that part, I remember at first I thought I had my monitor settings wrong somehow.

I am hoping for 144fps to be available, that would really make this port awesome.

I dabbled with it a bit last playthrough while in BBI. It was fun but it took time getting used to blocking, felt very foreign to me having been a mage the whole game.

Looks so much smoother. I don’t get how people can genuinely say 30fps is better than 60. It really boggles my mind.

Well in the corner when the video started it said it wasn’t the final build so they might still be refining the graphics still. But hell, the framerate looks damn impressive at least.

Won’t buy it since I have the original AND Dark Arisen already on PS3 and played upwards of 800 hours (total). But I’ll probably… restart the game when it comes out and play alongside PC bros.

And soon you can play it without your ps3 killing itself because of the framerate drops!

Oh man, I can’t wait for this. I never played the Black Island expansion thing because my PS3 schized and I lost all my savedata (no way was I grinding that scarf you get at the end again!!!). So hyped for this, also crossing my fingers for a bot of mod support.

you are in for such a treat. bitter black island expands on the story (far better pacing) and is better then the main game. i doubled my play time easy.

It’s MT Framework (same engine for all Capcom games) so yeah, it will definitely be texture-moddable but I wouldn’t hold your breath for any really big gameplay mods.
