During today’s Nintendo Treehouse E3 stream, the first piece of post-launch content for ARMS was revealed: a new fighter named Max Brass.
Releasing sometime next month, he seems to be a heavy fighter in the vein of Mechanica and Master Mummy. However, he contains some elements of Spring Man, such as his supercharged attacks at low health.
In the story of the game, Max Brass is the world champion of ARMS: appearing as the final boss of the game’s Grand Prix.
While he will be in-game as a final boss when it launches tomorrow, he won’t be a playable character until sometime in July.
As previously announced, Max Brass, along with all other post launch content updates, will be free to download.
ARMS launches tomorrow exclusively on Nintendo Switch.

June 15, 2017 at 7:23 pmHe reminds me of Booster Gold. Cutting him out of the game and making him DLC is a dick move.

June 15, 2017 at 7:59 pmSeriously. It’s free. What a stupid complaint.

June 15, 2017 at 10:53 pmPicking up my copy tomorrow. The E3 tourny was a fun watch, though Ninjara dodge+throw spam was a bit annoying to see, and the test punches were good enough to get me interested.

June 16, 2017 at 2:13 amJust out of curiosity, what is the in-game reason for their spring arms?

June 16, 2017 at 2:26 amNone. It just happens, apparently, and everyone’s cool with it.

June 16, 2017 at 4:42 amThey’re just repeating the Splatoon spreading out of content.

June 16, 2017 at 4:42 amBecause it’s a video game developed by Nintendo. Weird things just happen.

June 16, 2017 at 4:44 amI still don’t think that locking out a character for a fighting game is that good of an idea.

June 16, 2017 at 7:34 amYes, we already established that.

June 16, 2017 at 10:47 amI think the best way to look at it would be an Early Access type release; like Splatoon the game is launching with the bare minimum amount of content that would still be deemed acceptable, and with free updates it’d finally constitute an actual full game’s worth of content about a year later.
Although the difference is that Splatoon 1 had an asking price of a “mere” 40 bucks, whereas Arms is already the full 60 for something that’s also pretty much multiplayer-only.
