fire emblem fates 01-19-16-1

Nintendo has announced a special edition Fire Emblem Fates-emblazoned New Nintendo 3DS.

Featured above, the new piece of kit will be released alongside the games on February 19th. It will cost you $199.99. The Birthright and Conquest editions of the game will be sold separately for $39.99, with the option of buying the other for $19.99.

The third version of the game, Revelation, can be purchased for $19.99. If you’re looking to go for the entire package, there’s a $79.99 special edition that includes all three games on a single card, an artbook, and a Nintendo 3DS XL pouch.

Finally, Nintendo announced map DLC for the games, which will be released weekly starting when the games launch, on February 19th. You can buy these maps individually, or you can purchase Map Pack 1 for $17.99

So a special edition of the New 3DS yet it doesn’t include either version of Fates? Something seems wrong there.

and honestly this new 3ds xl looks bland compared to the one japan got with the faceplates and small new 3ds

I’m only getting this game if it’s confirmed to be uncensored. Tired of censorship.

if you dont want it censored you should look into the fantranslation on serenesforest

Wonder if they’ll restock the special editions while they’re at it.

    >Nintendo translations and censorship goes worse and worse, it will probably make this game a mess
    >DLC every fucking where, milking the cow a bit too much here Nintendo
    >There’s a fan translation of the game but for what it seems is rushed as fuck and questionable quality due to them wanting to release before the west game
    >Region lock because fuck you

Nannytendo starting off right in 2016 by not giving two flying fucks about their customers with another censored product with DLC tacked onto it!

It’s funny; normally I’d be bummed about the inevitable censorship, but the one-for-two scheme plus DLC is so unappealing that I can’t imagine buying Fates anyway.

Of course, I’m not the hugest fan of Fire Emblem. If Advance Wars was still alive and Nintendo sold it like this I can’t say for sure I wouldn’t be tempted.

Doesn’t change that the game is still separated in two cartdriges because fuck you, while also having a Last Story mode sold as DLC.
    Fuck otakus.

  17. Narmy

Good thing 3DS piracy is a thing now. I can’t believe you can only get the full game on one cart if you buy the special edition.

Here comes the scam DLC. The prices for it are simply reprehensible.

Nintendo no longer care to appear greedy just like Sony. Both companies know that drones will buy their shit for the brand name alone.

Don’t. Get Pasta CFW, apply unofficial patch, wait for the patch finalized/refined, enjoy FE:Fates like you should have.

  23. Zombie_Barioth
    January 20, 2016 at 12:54 am

Not really too bothered by the multiple version thing since they’re going for $20 each, assuming its actually 2-1/2 games worth of content, but holly crap, so much for “doing DLC right”.

That better be one hell of a map pack for only being $3 cheaper than the chapters themselves.

  24. evilmajikman
    January 20, 2016 at 3:38 am

The worst part is you have people that STILL huff Nintendo’s farts.

    >Miyamoto claims there’s no new proper Metroid and F-Zero games because he hasn’t found anything creative to do with them
    >Still has the company making repetitive Zelda and Mario games.

    >Fans claim they don’t do bad DLC practices
    >Nintendo locks content on disc with toys.

    >Nintendo produces Bayonetta 2 and advertises it with Playboy doing cosplay.
    >Nintendo censors various games and claims moral high ground.

….WTF would I have to smoke/snort to be noseblind to Nintendo’s horseshit?

  27. Vcom7418

I think it’s more of “Don’t hate the player, hate the game”. Everybody is doing it, makes a shit ton of money, why not, right?
That said, DLC maps were pretty alright in Awakening, especially the grind pack. Easy EXP grinding FTW.

  28. Yamato

I don’t mind when dialogue is changed to suit localization needs, but when they start removing features and censoring stuff that has no real need to be is when I start caring. Hopefully they don’t butcher it to much because Fire Emblem is one of my favorite series.

  29. MonsterGogo
    January 20, 2016 at 7:09 am

I’m sorry, what? It’s not enough the full game is already split in 3, there’s going to be weekly paid map packs that cost nearly as much as the other versions themselves? Jesus christ.

  30. Stilzkin
    January 20, 2016 at 7:29 am

I wouldn’t lump Zelda together with Mario

  31. British_Otaku
    January 20, 2016 at 8:33 am

This map pack is a compilation of multiple weekly ones that Japanese players and importers like me got. I only expect one more Map Pack but I don’t disagree that they have poor value in comparison to any of the campaigns.

    January 20, 2016 at 12:12 pm

they come for $40-20-20… but only if you are willing to deal with digital, if you’re not a collector.

you are paying $80 for a complete handheld game story.
    have fun.

    Don’t forget memes aswell

  42. Zombie_Barioth
    January 20, 2016 at 9:10 pm

True, but either way its $80 for everything, which like I said isn’t bad if they actually have enough substance behind them to be separate releases. This isn’t the first game to be broken into parts like this.

Honestly I’d be more concerned about Nintendo’s current digital practices than the fact they’re digital, and the DLC being released on top of it driving up the total price even further.

  43. bateruchan
    January 20, 2016 at 10:53 pm

$80 for me is just not worth it for a complete experience of a game… no less a handheld one. sorry. and that’s not including physical, where it is $100.

and yes that bothers me too, of course. the drawback beyond “they’re digital” is the fact that NNID IS NOT TIED to your digital purchases… they’re system-locked and it just… yes it bothers me. more than it should i suppose. but the price point is too much for me.

yes, pokemon is split into multiple versions, but if i pay $80 over a course of a generation, it’s $40 for the vanilla, $40 for the enhanced version, but neither one is incomplete, and one can simply wait for the enhanced version if they want.
this is the whole experience, spread out.
it’s kind of lame to me. the limited edition sold out because it was $80 for the two main games AND that story-bound DLC AND a physical goodie. so the fact that one was SO limited is even more maddening.
