Fire Emblem Fates has Naughty Dialogue, Stripping, and Touching Gameplay

fire emblem fates 06-26-15-4

With the recent launch of the game in Japan, we’ve learned (via Nintendo News) that Fire Emblem Fates has some naughty bits of gameplay.

While the Japanese version is reminiscent of the previous games, Twitch user Hamayama managed to stream a good amount of the game, which revealed that you could undress your characters down to their underwear, touch and grope them, and even engage in suggestive dialogue.

fire emblem fates 06-26-15-1

When you’re in the Accessory Shop, you can strip down your party members to just their undies. From here, you can move the camera around into a strategic position, and even get a glimpse of some underboob.

Fire Emblem Fates is coming with a feature much like the petting in the Pokémon Amie mini-game, although this is applied to your party members, and things can quickly become sexual in nature. You do this by using your stylus to stroke, rub, and pet characters of your choosing.

fire emblem fates 06-26-15-2

It’s worth mentioning that you can only experience the sexual dialogue if you have an S-rank level relationship with said character. We’ve gotten a hold of some translations of said naughty banter, via some users on Reddit. You can find some examples below:

  • Camilla: “The way you’re using your hand feels so good. Very skillful.”
  • Lazwald: “I also want to touch you, will you come closer?”
  • Takumi: “You can touch me wherever I like, but don’t say I didn’t warn you…”
  • Joker: “We can’t… it’ll have to wait for tonight.”
  • Camilla: “When you do it this much, it’s embarrassing…”

Finally, considering that you can have actual family members (siblings) in your party, this applies to them as well. Yes, this means you can experience your brother or sister uttering naughty things, like Takumi (the protagonist’s brother) saying “If mother saw this, what would she think?”

Recently, we also learned of the game featuring both online multiplayer (for it’s My Castle feature presumably), as well as same-sex marriage.

Fire Emblem Fates is launching in the west some time next year.

So this is what becomes of Fire Emblem. Just full on pandering.

Well, this is where I get off the ride. Been a fan ever since I picked up FE7 for the GBA, and even played the earlier games. I honestly had been excited for this even after the massive disappointment that was Awakening, but recent news has made me aware that this just isn’t a game made for Fire Emblem fans, but rather people that just like soulless fanservice.

There’s nothing wrong with gratuitous fanservice, but Fire Emblem has always been better than that. Awakening got a little close to that line with Tharja, but this is just ridiculous.

I’m clearly in the minority here, since everyone in the comments is worried about it being censored. I don’t care. Fire Emblem is ruined. Complete censorship would be an improvement in my eyes. But I’ll bite my fucking tongue, as the last thing I want to be is a hypocrite. I want to say that the developers are idiots and they’re making a mockery of their franchise, but nope, it’s their vision. They have the right to ruin a franchise as much as they wish, if that is their artistic vision.

    >but Awakening saved Fire Emblem
I said after I played Awakening that I rather would have FE die a noble death than Awakening save it if it was going to go down the road that it started on, and now that sentiment is even stronger.

Awakening felt like it had the right amount of spice and sugar. Now I feel like the new one is just OD’ing with the fanservice.

Have to admit as well, as someone who’s played all the previous games, I’m not liking the new direction it’s heading in. Awakening felt somewhat new and fresh and I forgave it for going out of its niche box, but this new game just seems like it’s just pandering. Never liked the idea of the separate games as it felt more like milking than anything else, but now I just lost complete interest.

  26. Guest

I hope it doesn’t get censored, just out of principal. At the same time, though… I dunno. I can see where this is coming from with Awakening, but this feels like, to me anyways if I were to pick up a Mario title and there was a mini game to rub Luigi. That’s just not what I’m there for.

If this weren’t a Fire Emblem game I might be fine with it. Same way I’d be fine with Federation Force if it weren’t a Metroid game. You make sequels because people like the series and want more content, you don’t make the series into something it isn’t.

don’t like it, don’t touch it

That’s good to hear. I honestly want to know why the change, though. 8-4 has developed a reputation for being quite censor happy and liberal with localization as of late, so I wonder if Nintendo cut them out because of that? From what I hear, this FE is rather dark, so maybe they didn’t want to take a risk with them for plot reasons? I can’t imagine NoA letting their own IP go above a T-rating regardless, and this feature will most definitely going to bump it up to M. Although Nintendo releasing an M-rated game is just as odd as Nintendo making an online multiplayer focused shooter, so I could be (and hope I am) wrong about them trying to keep the game at a T-rating.

I get where you’re coming from, ‘cos I feel mostly the same way. But take a look at one of your statements.

“There’s nothing wrong with gratuitous fanservice, but Fire Emblem has always been better than that.”

FE wouldn’t have to be ‘better than’ something that ‘there’s nothing wrong with’. So clearly, there IS something wrong with fanservice. Of course it is. It’s pandering nonsense that forgoes good writing in favor of communicating directly to your balls. And yet, there’s nothing wrong with it. Just keep it away from my favourite franchise, ‘cos it degrades anything that it touches.

When a game is full of fanservice, it doesn’t see you as an adult consumer, but rather as a little boy with direct access to your parents’ bank account.

“Complete censorship would be an improvement in my eyes” You say? If that’s the case then I will say that you’ll be more happier staying away from games that has these sorts of themes. You may find those more like minded over in NeoGAF.

As for FE:A, I have noticed it being more towards the mainstream direction and in some ways its not a good thing. My grip with the recent game is that it seems to be trying to reach to a wider audience with its gameplay and it shows. I feel with this one its going even further with its two versions each having different levels of difficulty ( cant seem to figure why is that a thing now) and adding in certain elements that i feel are just tossed into the mix with little to no thought behind it.

It’s just Nintendo hunting down them whales in full force, as they’ve been doing for a while now. This Fire Emblem seems to go for the most possible now:

    -Standard waifu- and husbandofags
-Fujoshi and gays finally getting their pandering
-Upping the ante with the rubbing to get the lewder customers
-Two seperate SDKs for the collectors
    -DLC campaigns aplently
-Amiibo integration so they can have even more poor saps hunt down overpriced and impossible to find figures toys

The Nintendo that seemed to care about the integrity of selling a complete and untainted gameplay experience seems to be long gone nowadays. But that much would already be evident by seeing Amiibo locking away features in current or upcoming game.

Hurrah for micro macrotransactions for everyone?

Hope this doesn’t get censored in the west…

Why is there fanservice in a Fire Emblem game? Answer me that. Would you expect this nonsense in a Final Fantasy Tactics game? How about Valkyria Chronicles?

Even Disgaea wouldn’t go this far, and that series IS about fanservice.

On the Hoshido side, you’re still adopted (confirmed by players/fans).
So no real incest here. Hoping NoA doesn’t censor that part. OR, they could at least announce that there’s no incest.

Gotta do whatever to rake in the cash.

Why not beyond people whining? More people like it than don’t if Awakening is anything to go by.

And I wouldn’t mind if it was in any of those series, especially if it’s optional.

No need. Nintendo has four times the Vita userbase only with 3DS.

This is not whining. This is developers putting something in a game that shouldn’t be there. I have nothing against games with this content and have enjoyed many of them, but it is MASSIVELY out of place here, and anyone who says it is not has not played the Fire Emblem series.

This will not rake in the cash though. In fact, it’s likely to do the opposite.

A completely optional feature. Let’s remember that because people will still bitch about it.

Another thing we’ll never see on a western release. I do have to say its kinda weird to see it on a FE game, but I don’t really mind. It’s optional, after all. Get touchy-feely only if you want.

Yeah no way this content or dialog will make it out west

the userbase maybe, but not the users

  105. OlimacFTW

Right, the users. Here you have:
    3DS= 18M against Vita= 4M users

When I said users, I meant audience as marketing target. Vita is now the main system for niche games consumers

It doesn’t even need to be censored, after all if the history is so dark as they say, it would naturally raise the age of the game. After all, what’s the problem.

I couldn’t agree more. I have thought this way since the first time i heard someone criticize the FE series.

It’s funny, cos I see more skin on prime time than I do in these games.
