• Sci-fi shoot ’em up reboot Final Formation announced

    Publisher City Connection and developer Happymeal have announced Final Formation, the next game in their “sci-fi multiverse trilogy” of shoot ’em ups.

    Final Formation is in development for Windows PC (via Steam) and Nintendo Switch, and will launch in 2024. It follows their original shmup reboot Final Exerion, which launched in 2023 for PC (via Steam) and Switch.


    The new shmup is a reboot of classic Jaleco sidescrolling shooter Formation Z, and will feature explorable maps, the PELL system (ships that transform into mechs and combine), a soundtrack by Daisuke Matsumoto, and both character and mecha designs (plus a manga) by U Watari.
