We’ve learned (via Nintendo Everything) that Final Fantasy XV director Hajime Tabata is setting his sights on The Legend of Zelda series.

Speaking in an interview with Dengeki PlayStation, the Square Enix boss said that he’d like to work on the iconic Nintendo series:

“The Legend of Zelda series. I’m not quite sure why myself, but a Zelda game made with the technology and know-how of Final Fantasy XV is the game I wish to create as of this moment.”

While this isn’t indicative of anything Square Enix or Tabata are currently working on, it does make you wonder what a hyper-realistic Zelda game made with Final Fantasy XV-level assets would look like? Not to mention how Square enix character designer Tetsuya Nomura would design the series’ main characters.
