Final Fantasy XIV Will Be Sold Again in January 2022

Final Fantasy XIV Will Be Sold Again

Following the actual removal of the game due to its massive popularity surge, Square Enix has announced Final Fantasy XIV will be sold again towards the end of January 2022.

The news that Final Fantasy XIV will be sold again on January 25th across Windows PC, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 5 comes after the publisher confirmed they will be opening a new datacenter for the Oceania region.

Furthermore, users that want to transfer to the new servers can do so via the Home World Transfer service beginning January 26th, with exceptions for heavily congested worlds, of course.

Game director and producer Naoki Yoshida noted the game has “experienced extremely high levels of congestion, causing our players a great deal of frustration” since the launch of Endwalker. “The task of rebalancing jobs also remains, and we will continue working on this and other adjustments.”

He added that “while certain Worlds continue to experience congestion during peak times, our plan to fundamentally address the problem is beginning to take shape, and I’d like to share the roadmap with you.”

The reasoning behind the game originally getting removed from sale was that Final Fantasy XIV servers have been overwhelmed ever since the release of the recent Endwalker expansion.

Final Fantasy XIV is available for Windows PC, Mac (via the SE Store, and Steam), PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and still planned for Xbox One. In case you missed it, you can find our Endwalker expansion review here (we can’t recommend it enough!)
