Final Fantasy XIV PS4 Pro Patch Detailed

Square Enix has been working on a patch that will enabled better performance and visuals on the PlayStation 4 Pro version of Final Fantasy XIV. The publisher recently held their latest Letter from the Producer Live broadcast, and we now have the first details for the coming patch.

The update will launch alongside the game’s next expansion, Stormblood, and will include two modes: one that focuses on a 60FPS framerate but keeps the game’s current resolution, while the other focuses on higher resolutions with the same framerate. It’s not clear if the former will be locked at 60FPS.

Update 4.0 will be probably dropping just prior to the Stormblood Expansion, and if you’re playing the game on a superior PC, you can test the performance of the expansion with this new benchmark.

Final Fantasy XIV: Stormblood is launching on June 20th for PC and PS4 – the PS3 version has been cut for performance issues. If you own a PS4 as well, you can upgrade your Final Fantasy XIV copy to a PS4 version for free.
