Final Fantasy XIV Live-Action TV Drama Coming to Netflix Fall 2017

Square Enix is premiering a live-action TV show based on their MMORPG Final Fantasy XIV.

Titled Final Fantasy XIV: Hikari no Otousan (officially translated to Final Fantasy XIV: Daddy of Light), the live-action drama tells the story of a son who purchases a copy of Final Fantasy XIV on PlayStation 4 for his father.

As his father gets engrossed in the MMORPG, his son begins playing with him online, under an anonymous identity. Without telling his father, he begins writing a blog, detailing their adventures together. Featured above, you can view a Japanese trailer for the show.

The show’s official Twitter was updated with the announcement of a western release sometime this fall, via Netflix. The Japanese release is airing on April 18th on TBS, followed by a Japanese Netflix release on April 20th.
