Final Fantasy X

Square Enix has released a new celebratory website for Final Fantasy X’s 25th anniversary ahead of the beloved RPG’s birthday this summer.

Square Enix also announced new merchandise to highlight the 25th anniversary milestone including plushies, a vinyl soundtrack, and an artbook, and more.

Alongside the new website is a new 25th anniversary logo (featured above) which was also done by original designer Tetsuya Nomura.

Originally released back on July 19th, 2001 for the PlayStation 2, Final Fantasy X was remastered for its 10th birthday and re-released with its direct sequel, Final Fantasy X-2. The remaster was initially released for PS3 and PS Vita and later ported to PC and other consoles.

Here’s a synopsis on the game:

Released in 2001 as a PlayStation 2 title, this is the tenth installment in the “Final Fantasy” series.

The poignant story of a boy and a girl facing the great threat known as “Sin” is brought to life with rich emotion through the series’ first-ever use of character voices and facial animations that change expressions based on the situation; its moving narrative continues to be cherished by many fans to this day.

In 2003, the sequel, Final Fantasy X-2, was released, vividly depicting a story set two years after the main game using character expression technology that had evolved even further from the previous title.
