The debut trailer for Square Enix’s latest mobile game in their Final Fantasy series, Final Fantasy Legends: The Space-Time Crystal, has released recently, and you can watch it above.
The guy with the blue jacket in the still is the protagonist, Tomoro (get it?), an adventurous sort who’s up for anything. He meets Emo, the girl with the red hair, who’s from the future. Soon they’re traveling throughout time to various eras with another fellow adventurer, Reeg, the blond guy in the still. Ultimately, their goal is to stop a god from destroying the future.
The few snippets of the actual game provided in the video aren’t enough to give us a good idea of the gameplay, but it does look to be inspired by early JRPGs. What we do know is that the mobile game will have a leveling system and summonses, and that Square Enix intend for it to be a “real” RPG.
Final Fantasy Legends: The Space-Time Crystal is the sequel to Final Fantasy Legends: Warriors of Light and Dark (also known as Final Fantasy Dimensions). It will be free to play, with additional in-game items available for purchase. It will release some time this winter in Japan on Android and iOS mobile devices.
