Final Fantasy Dimensions II Announced in Japan

Square Enix has announced Final Fantasy Legends II for both iOS and Android devices.

The new game is being headed by Square Enix’s Business Division 9 boss Takashi Tokita, who likens the game to a rebirth for the spinoff series, and one that will pan out through a new story in space and time. Featured above, you can view the game’s debut trailer.

If you go and pre-register for the game (via its official website), you’ll get an exclusive Tidus’ Phantom Stone item, and a “Fraternity” weapon. It’s worth mentioning the original game was localized under the name Final Fantasy Dimensionswhile Japanese fans know it as Final Fantasy Legends.

Dimensions was amazing. It was a “mobile game” in the same vein that FF4 TAY was — it wasn’t. It was basically a SNES RPG using Dragon Quest 4’s chapter system.

I just noticed, this is not a sequel to what we called Final Fantasy Dimensions, which was called Final Fantasy Legends: Hikari to Yami no Senshi (Final Fantasy Legends: Warriors of Light and Darkness) in Japan.

This is a sequel to Final Fantasy Legends: Toki no Suishō (Final Fantasy Legends: Crystal of Space-Time), which was never localized.

If this was Final Fantasy Dimensions 2 I would be super hype. It’s not. Appears to be a game similar to Dragon Quest Stars.
