Final Fantasy Agito is Remade as Final Fantasy Type-0 Online for PC and Mobile

Square Enix has announced Final Fantasy Type-0 Online for PC and mobile during their Final Fantasy XV Active Time Report at this year’s Tokyo Game Show.

The game was previously teased as a reborn version of Final Fantasy Agito, which is being shut down in November. Square Enix has contracted China-based developer Perfect World to develop the title, with a beta test set for sometime this winter in China.

Featured above, you can view the game’s debut trailer. Final Fantasy Type-0 Online is getting a spring 2016 release in Japan across PC and mobile, while the North American and European release is “being considered.”

Finally, Square Enix is prepping up a special treat for their fans who have played Final Fantasy Agito. You can view the game’s website here.

T-thanks Square Enix… you guys sure know how to appeal to your PC crowd. Except for the part where you haven’t given us any of the Kingdom Hearts games, FFXV, or in that case, an actually well optimized port.

Well, the KH games are probably for legal reasons. They can’t even release them digitally for consoles because of the licensed songs in the games.

And the FFVII steam release is actually good. Shame about the other ports though.

But yeah, Sqaure approaches the PC…well, how a lot of Japanese devs approach it, unfortunately. Good PC ports of Japanese games are quite rare. How was the FFXIII PC port? I haven’t heard much about it. Other than, you know, it’s still FFXIII.

Are the songs in the FFVII steam release midi or mp3 songs?

Technically they are OGGs. But the music is identical to the PS1 original.

Initially, they were “upgraded” versions of the original PC versions not-so-great midi songs, but they patched in the PS1 versions of the songs.

    “KH”
    “FFXV”
I don’t see any issue (spoiler it’s not even a matter of if 15 will hit, stop crying over it)

Well, that’s nice. I have the previously released midi version and it sucked balls.

While I didn’t buy the PC version of FFXlll (for the reason it was FFXlll) I was hoping that Square at least put some effort into the port so PC can be an ideal platform for JRPGs but from what I can tell, the port was a disaster. For starters, the game takes up to 60 GB of hard drive space (most likely from the pre-rendered cutscenes) and Square decided to not put up a pre-load for even one day. Then when the game came out it was capped at 30 FPS and 720p resolution supposedly with stuttering even with the limitations. Then the real kicker was that there wasn’t even an options menu to change graphical settings. And just to prove how lazy Square Enix was, Durante literally uncapped the FPS and resolution on launch day. Suffice to say, the port was awful

A lot of the port issues are so trivial and easy to deal with that it makes it seem as it isn’t lazyness on their part but ignorance.

We all know AAA companies can be a big mess, and information can take a while to move around and make an effect, specially when it has to travel overseas.

So perhaps those in charge of deciding the details of the port aren’t properly aware at the time of the demands of the audience and what is the norm for the market.

This might just by my naive wishful thinking though.

Good thing that Agito was Square Enix’s reparation for not having Type-0 on the Vita.
