Chou Dengeki Stryker is a very interesting mix of an adventure/visual novel game. Developed by the talented Japanese studio Overdrive and localized by Manga Gamer, it’s bursting at the seams with style.

You can have a look at the game’s opening movie, featured above, which in all reality could easily pass for an intense new anime, but I digress. (If the song sounded familiar, it’s because it’s sung by Endoh Masaaki of JAM Project.) This is the story of Yuuki Yamato, a young boy who yearns to be just like the superheroes that he loves.

Haruna Yamato, his childhood friend, asks him to see her off as she’s moving away. He fails to do this, unwilling to say goodbye, and later, when he’s feeling sad and sorry, an old man appears and offers him one wish in exchange for a memory. His wish? To become a Dengeki Stryker, his favorite comic book hero of all time.

This wish, however, comes at a cost, as earth is invaded by an army of cyborgs years later. The invasion specifically kicks off in the city where Haruna now lives. In the face of an overwhelming adversary, the police and the army are powerless to stop them. Enter the Dengeki Stryker, the tireless hero who will hopefully save the day.

Manga Gamer has even take the liberty to enhance the game with additional event CGs, helping to further the story that was previously only in text format. They also added more character sprites, allowing each of the characters to have even more expressions.
