Fate/Grand Order Shows Off Another New Servant

With Fate/Grand Order still on its way, TYPE-MOON continues to show off new and interesting servants that will feature in the game.

During this past week’s airing of Fate/Stay Night [Unlimited Blade Works], a commercial ran featuring a new servant of the Rider class.  Last week saw the commercial for a new Saber in the same slot, in case you missed it. Coming off of the design by Huke (Steins;Gate) for the new Saber, the new Rider is designed by Sakamoto Mineji, a light novel illustrator who worked on the Lord El-Melloi II Case FIles.

The new Rider’s true identity hasn’t been revealed yet, but she is described as a young girl clad in armor. She is a genius swordsman who truly adores her older brother. During her lifetime, she was constantly persecuted by those around her for her exceedingly great talent. The commercial also features Saori Hayami as the VA for the new Rider.

Fate Grand Order 4-27-15 - 1

Fate/Grand Order is still set to be released sometime this year with a scenario written by Kinoko Nasu focused on a strange take on the Holy Grail War, this time fought across seven different time periods.

And the decline of Japanese video game character design continues… Is it really so necessary to use skimpy outfits to sell everything these days? Times must really be tough over there

I guess it’s not enough to have a character look cool and stylish anymore.

…To distract hetro male or female, of any preference, opponents.

I mean; a non-lesbian would likely be more distracted. especially a SJW.

As odd as it may sound, this comes off as indicative of how out of touch JP devs have become in regards to world building. Something that likely started with small things like running into monster/magic books in a desert instead of a library. Everything has gone towards favoring a J-pop mentality.

I wouldn’t actually blame the design on the dev, considering that Fate/Grand Order has a bunch of artists collaborating with the game. I think the designs are more derived of the artists itself than anything else. A good example of this is Unchained Blades.

If you check out the character staff at http://www.fate-go.jp/, it’s compromised of artists from manga and light novel.

I think it has less to do with “we need characters in skimpy outfits to sell something”, and more to do with “why would you not have characters in skimpy outfits?”.

Oh wow. Why does every non-main line Fate game have such godawful character designs?

It’s ironic. Fate/Stay Night is the only actual hentai game in the series and yet has extremely cool and well thought out designs. Meanwhile, none of the others are adult games and yet they’ve all got characters who look like they should have come from a third-rate hentai visual novel.

I think part of it is that it’s a mobile game. It has literally hundreds and thousands of games to compete against, while console games don’t have that at all.

Is it true that a non-JP player can play this or did I hear wrong?

Extra’s designs were fine. CCC had a couple of odd ones (namely the Sakura character), but overall it was fine.

    Yup I agree.

Apocrypha and Prototype has some cool and unique designs as well. Grand Order just has different artists designing each character so it can’t be helped that some are going to look strange.

You will need Japanese Google play through proxy IP to download it though. Unless you can load the APK from elsewhere.

Most Japanese only games can be playable, it’s just that Google won’t let you download it because they have a hard on for region locking contents.

I never considered that but I suppose it does make sense. The mobile market is incredibly over-saturated
