Fatal Frame is returning as a pachislot machine to celebrate the series 20th anniversary this year, disappointing longtime fans of the series hoping to see a proper entry on modern platforms.
The new Fatal Frame (or Zero as it’s known in Japan and Project Zero in Europe) pachislot machine is being produced by Yamasa Next (via Gamespark.jp), and will feature higher resolution graphics with a bunch of cutscenes from the original Fatal Frame game.
The original Fatal Frame originally released for the PlayStation 2 and the Xbox for Japan back in 2001, and later in 2002 for the west. Koei Tecmo previously teased wanting to celebrate the series’ 20th anniversary, however it shared no details on what they were potentially planning. It seems like Fatal Frame is returning as a pachislot machine is the only thing we’re getting.
The last proper game in the series was Fatal Frame: Maiden of Black Water, which saw a release back in 2014 in Japan and later in 2015 for the west, exclusively for the Wii U. Many fans have been hoping to see a Nintendo Switch port for
