Rumor: Far Cry 7 and Far Cry Multiplayer are in development

Far Cry 5

A new rumor is claiming at least two new Far Cry games are in development at Ubisoft.

These two games were reportedly intended to be part of the same game as separate game modes, but sources claim (via Insider Gaming) they’re being split up.

The two games appear to be under development as “Project Blackbird” for Fry Cry 7 and “Project Maverick” for the yet unnamed multiplayer game.

Far Cry 6, the latest game in the series came out in 2021 and featured the acting work of Giancarlo Esposito who’s known for his work as Gustavo “Gus” Fring in Breaking Bad.

Details about the leak are scarce, as the sources who got in touch with Insider Gaming were reportedly reluctant speak.

What we do know is that the multiplayer game will reportedly take place in the Alaskan wilderness and be an “extraction based shooter”.

Extraction shooters have become popular in recent years thanks to games like Escape From Tarkov, and other genres have tried their hands at making a similar game.

Ubisoft declined to comment when asked for comment by Insider Gaming and at the present the rumors remain unverified.
