Lifewonders is a Japanese indie studio, created last year, for the sole purpose of creating game experiences for LGBT gamers. Their first game, Fantastic Boyfriends Legends of Midearth, is described as a “classic homage” to JRPG’s, mixed with a visual novel, aimed at gay men.
Featured above, you can view a trailer for the game’s original Japanese release, as it’s currently available for download in Japan on both iOS and Android. However, Lifewonders has an Indiegogo campaign currently going on, to raise money for the game’s localization.
The story within Fantastic Boyfriends is one that puts you into the shoes of the male hero, who is summoned to the fantastical world of Midearth. Your task is to save the land from the demon king. Along your journey, you’ll encounter at least four bara (bear, or muscular) gay men, and be able to form relationships and fall in love.
These men are quite varied, ranging from an Adventurer’s Guild master, a powerful and fiery horned ogre, a dragon in the form of a man, and even a monk skilled in magic. Lifewonders is saying while this game is entirely focused on pleasing gay men, their potential future projects will be aimed to appeal towards players of every sex, gender, and sexual orientation.
You can find more information on the official Fantastic Boyfriends website, and on their Indiegogo campaign. Lifewonders are seeking $20,000 to fund their English localization, and if shown western attention, will be able to not only develop more games geared towards LGBT gamers, but worldwide releases as well.

May 20, 2015 at 8:05 pmThey have a name for every kind of possible love interest and love naming and classifying powers. (And shouting it at the top of their lungs while they attack with it.)
I think they just have country wide weird case of organizational fetish or OCD.

May 22, 2015 at 11:13 amIt’s not yaoi. It’s bara. Yaoi is targeted at women, and features bishounen. Learn proper weeaboo terminology kids.
