First we saw Love, Live! and nude skin mods for Dead or Alive 5: Last Round, but now we’ve seen a new mod that will make Shenmue fans happy. Despite fans still waiting for some sort of closure to the epic saga featuring Ryo Hazuki, a very enthusiastic fan managed to mod a bit of Shenmue into Last Round.
The creator, reddit user Esppiral, says that for now the mods are simply retextures of Jacky (Ryo Hazuki), Akira (Lan Di), and the Dojo stage. He said that all the retextures were made possible with the original textures from Shenmue, although he said it required “some magic” as well.

Esppiral teases that if fans decrypted the original games, he would make “real character swaps.” So while this isn’t anything related to a new Shenmue game, it’s something to remind people that fans are still hungry for a sequel?
