The series may be officially done (Supposedly) and Matt Groening is back to doing more seasons of The Simpsons, but fans of Futurama still have needs…and they aren’t really being fulfilled. No games, no Minecraft skins released by Microsoft…when does Futurama get some respect?
How about now? Seems that a gifted pixel artist has begun posting images and videos of an upcoming Futurama Adventure game he’s designing. It’s still in the early stages, but the show’s signature look (combined with that Commodore-64 style music) is already showing through.
Based on the classic point-and-click adventure games of the 1980s, this Futurama game intends to go full retro. It makes sense, since if you’ve seen Futurama, a lot of pop culture in the 3000AD version of Earth is recycled from the 20th century. Very meta, if you ask me.
You can follow the developer, Arjon van Dam on his Twitter page and keep tabs on his game as it comes together. There are also a collection of older images on Indie Retro News.
