When Fallout: New Vegas first released back in 2010, Obsidian Entertainment were forced to cut many aspects of the game’s content in order to fit the game onto consoles.
Unfortunately, this cut content was even left out of the PC version at launch. The end result was the creation of an amazing and beloved entry in the Fallout franchise that was so close to perfect yet still could not reach the hill. Fans have naturally been modding to re-add this cut content.
Some of this cut content included animations, enemies, behaviors, and even the complexity of game’s AI. There is a reason why even NPCs in Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion seem to have a set behavioral pattern but the NPCs in the far more complex Fallout: New Vegas seemed to be more limited. It was unfortunately console limitations that hamstrung the original release.
Luckily, a new mod called LD’s Improved New Vegas is attempting to restore all the missing features from the cutting room floor. The mod is still in progress and, as of now, it brings in a wide range of these environmental touches from areas like Primm, Goodsprings, Novac, as well as parts of the New Vegas strip.
The developer plans to continue adding new cut content back in through updates as the mod progresses. The LD’s Improved New Vegas mod is currently available for download now at Nexus Mods. So go grab it and get to walking that Mojave Desert, Courier, because this heat is going to make you wish for a nuclear winter.
Fallout: New Vegas has been available for Windows PC (via Steam), PlayStation 3, and Xbox 360.
