Bethesda released a new hotfix for Fallout 76 alongside new details on what to expect for the game in the new year.
The game’s hotfix fixes various issues like quitting to desktop making the game client itself crash, as well as an exploit that let players duplicate items. You can read the full patch notes here.
Alongside the hotfix is the news that an entirely new player-versus-player mode is coming sometime early next year, alongside more fixes and tweaks.
“Our sights are set for future updates,” Bethesda said in the update. “In mid-January, we will be releasing another patch that contains many fixes, including fixes for the Lever-Action Rifle reload animation, some perk cards, and we’re dealing some crowd control at the Whitespring by implementing a fix for the robots duplicating on the resort grounds.”
Here’s the bit on the new mode: “We’re also hard at work on a new mode where you can work together, or not, without PVP restrictions,” the post added. “We’re already having fun playing it at the office and we’re hopeful to roll it out to all of you sometime in the first quarter of the year.”
Currently, to initiate real PVP, both players have to attack each other, otherwise the attacking player will do partial damage – if they manage to kill unflagged players they will also be tagged for a bounty as a player killer. This new mode sounds like you’ll be able to play on real PVP servers, where there are not such restrictions.
Fallout 76 is now available for Windows PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One. In case you missed it – you can find our very thorough review for the game here.
