Face/Off is getting a 4K remaster

Face/Off

Boutique distributor Kino Lorber has announced they’re doing a 4K remaster for John Woo’s 1997 classic Face/Off.

The new 4K resolution restoration is based on a 4K scan of the original 35MM camera negatives from the original film, and will be presented in glorious HDR/Dolby Vision.

Directed by John Woo, the film stars John Travolta and Nicholas Cage as dual protagonists in an action-packed thriller rife with subterfuge. The film also stars Joan Allen, Gina Gershon, Allesandro Nivola, and was shot by Oliver Wood.

The previous attempt at a high-definition release for the classic action flick was way back in 2008, and could definitely be improved with a proper 4K restoration and a totally lossless audio track.

Further details weren’t confirmed, though a release is tentatively set for sometime in early 2023.
