Everstar Kickstarter Cancelled

You might remember that Fable-esque party-based RPG being made by ex-BioWare developers that we reported on not too long ago. Things were looking good for developer Psycho Sorted, and their Kickstarter page was ready to roll …

But after only gaining 203 backers and a little over $12,000 in 3 weeks, the developers didn’t think they’d hit their lofty $850,000 goal, which was the topic of a recent update which broke the news of the cancellation of their Kickstarter.

We failed to get any coverage whatsoever by the larger media outlets which, given the high funding goal we needed to build out Everstar as a crowd funded game, has basically left our project dead in the water.

Still we are incredibly proud of everyone who contributed to the Everstar project, our fun actual gameplay, and the promise our game holds for the future of truly next-gen RPGs. We will continue to work on Everstar where possible and will do our best to bring the game to you when (and in whatever form) we can!

To all our backers and those who helped spread the word: thank you so much for your interest and support during the Everstar Kickstarter campaign! If you’d like to be kept up to date on Everstar, please follow us on Twitter or register for our forums.

Having followed the game since its announcement and reporting on it twice here at Niche Gamer, I have to say I’m a bit disappointed that the Kickstarter failed. Far less “functional” games have obtained more than even Psycho Sorted did, but I suppose that’s how it goes in an already crowded scene.

To anyone worried they might never play Everstar, keep in mind that Psycho Sorted is still planning on shopping the game to publishers, so there is hope yet.
